Atlantic City School District and Richard Stockton University present a STEM learning program for Atlantic City students from ages 8 – 18 in three, one week morning sessions

Dear Uptown School Students and Families,

On behalf of the faculty and staff, it is my pleasure to extend a warm welcome to you as we begin the 2014-2015 school year!  It is our mission to provide a rigorous and challenging curriculum in an environment that encourages, stimulates, and motivates our students.   We will focus on our overarching theme of  T.E.A.C.H-Teaching with Efficacy to Achieve a Culture of High expectations.  Through this mission and focus we will foster a diverse, vibrant, and safe learning community.

This school year we will continue to drive academic achievement by concentrating on our literacy framework and math initiatives, increasing parental and community partnerships, and by enhancing instructional practices through professional learning communities for our staff members.

Teaching and nurturing children is a tremendous and rewarding responsibility.  We are thankful that we can partner with you to mold your children into positive and productive young adults who are intelligent and creative thinkers, and lifelong learners.  When teachers and parents are enthusiastic, supportive, and committed to their child’s learning, the children in turn will enjoy learning and achieve at high levels. There's a lot of excitement ahead of us this year as we reconnect with friends, meet new people, discover new books and ideas, master new skills, and become creative problem solvers. This year is an invitation to work together to achieve excellence in all these areas.

Lastly, we have exceptional support from our Board of Education, leadership from our superintendent and assistant superintendents, and an excellent staff who are committed and diligently work to foster a vibrant learning community.  We also have wonderful parents like you who are devoted to their child’s education and their future.  We look forward to our journey of learning at Uptown School Complex.

Best Regards,

Michael Bird, Interim Principal

Greetings Uptown Family:

I am excited about what’s on the horizon for 2014-2015 school year at Uptown School Complex!

It is both an honor and a privilege to work with dedicated staff and faculty members in creating an optimal learning environment for our students.  We are committed to ensuring that the students at Uptown School Complex are provided with meaningful classroom instruction that is student centered and anchored in college and career readiness. It is our goal to equip our students with the critical thinking skills they will need to actively participate in our global society.

The entire staff is collectively vested in our students’ success as they develop into the bright, innovative and pioneering young adults that will cultivate and positively impact our society as a whole.

As it takes a village to raise a child, I look forward to partnering with the families and community members of Uptown School Complex to ensure that our children are equipped with the academic tools to be successful and feel confident as they transition into the next phase of their lives.

In Service to Students,

Dr. Sheree N. Alexander, Assistant Principal
