    UPTOWN SCHOOL COMPLEX

USC

Vision Statement

Uptown School Complex is a learning community where students, staff, and parents value and encourage lifelong learning. Uptown School Complex is a school where our intelligent students can dream and achieve in a positive, clean and safe learning environment that acknowledge, support, and respect each student's individual talents and abilities. Each day at Uptown School Complex our students are reminded that “No matter what I am going through I am somebody.” At Uptown, every child is engaged, motivated and encouraged to actualize their full potential – and EVERY child has a voice. Our students demonstrate this intrinsic confidence by reciting each morning a motto: “I believe I will achieve, because I believe in me!”

Uptown is a school where students, teachers and parents build trusting, caring relationships and work together toward the mutual goal: for our students to become academically, socially, and emotionally college and career ready while attaining the skills necessary to compete globally. At our school, there is a sense of urgency to connect with each other, share strategies and ideas that make our classrooms sanctuaries of learning, free from disruption. As a village, we provide students opportunities to explore and make true meaning of the world in which they live through authentic, engaging lessons through hands on learning experiences where our students can express themselves academically in different ways. We commit to working seamlessly together to support student learning and success through constant and consistent collaboration with a strong desire for our students to become responsible, productive citizens in the community. Our teachers demonstrate this deep-rooted belief system through reciting the motto: I Teach with Efficacy and fidelity to Achieve a Culture of High expectation for my students, (We T.E.A.C.H!)

Principal's Message

As the new Principal of the Uptown School Complex, it is my sincere pleasure to become a member of this great school community.   Uptown enjoys a rich history of academic and cultural excellence from resulting of a collegial partnership between the school staff and parents who provide a diversity of experiences for the students. I am truly honored to be appointed to this position and I am looking forward to working with the dedicated staff to provide the best possible educational program for our students.

Before coming to Uptown School Complex, I was the Assistant Principal at New York Avenue School here in Atlantic City for eight years.  I enjoyed my experience there and I am looking forward to the anticipated wonderful experience at Uptown School Complex.  My previous experience left me with a wealth of knowledge about the district's vision, initiatives and direction.  It also opened up opportunities for me to be highly involved within the community. I believe in Atlantic City and possess a big heart for all of the residents here.

Our greatest initiative is to provide the leadership that will facilitate a school environment that will meet the needs of all students to the best of our ability.  We will also offer an atmosphere that is academically challenging and engaging for all students while providing opportunities for each child to make real world connections.  It will be our endeavor that every child succeeds and will be prepared for the next level of education.

Moreover, it is you the parent/guardian that we want to partner with to ensure your child’s growth in school.  You are a major part in this process.  Parents, teachers, support staff, and administration all have an important role to encourage our children to become active learners.  With your help, we will aim at providing expanded opportunities for our students to acquire the skills to become productive citizens in a vastly changing society.  Therefore, we are encouraging you to become active in our Parent Advisory Committee (PAC), Parent Center activities, Back to School Night and many other school functions.

Through a close and collegial partnership with everyone associated with the Uptown School Complex family, we are confident that we can make our school an even better place for our students to learn and grow.

Respectfully,

Atiba N. Rose Sr.

Principal

Mr. Atiba Rose, Principal

Ms. Barnes, Assistant Principal
